Travel makes me tick. It’s what I live for, what I dream about and what makes me most happy. I prioritize it – One of my life goals is to visit 30 countries before I turn 30. Right now Im at 25 and hopefully by the end of this year I will be at 27 (I turn 28 Oct 23, 2014) :-). This past October, I took the month off and visited Iraq and Switzerland. In this post, I wanted to share photos from my Switzerland portion of the trip. My mother traveled with me as we celebrated her 50th birthday together. The experience was unforgettable. I respect and love my mother so much. She is an amazing women and being able to see Switzerland with her was a dream come true. I would love to go back one day and ski the alps 🙂
The duration of the trip was 9 days and our itinerary was as follows:
Day 1: Interlaken
Day 2: Bern, Bulle, Gruyere
Day 3: Gland, Nyon, Yvoirre (France), Geneva
Day 4: Geneva, Annecy (France)
Day 5: Lausanne, Montreux
Day 6: Zermatt, Gornergrat
Day 7: Wengen, Lauterbrunnen, Lucerne
Day 8: Lucerne, Vitznau, Mt. Rigi, Zurich
Day 9: Zurich
Switzerland has an amazing public transport system. We bought the 8 day Swiss Pass and it allowed us unlimited travel on all trains, buses, trams, boats, and cable cars. We packed light and each day we visited new places. We used the storage lockers at each train station to store our luggage as we explored a new town. The most heart stopping moment of the trip was seeing the Matterhorn in Gornergrat. It was surreal- the type of experience that makes your heart skip a beat.
I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to go on this trip. I used online forums, my lonely planet kindle book, and the help of a Swiss relative (thank you Seebtain Bha) to plan and my hope is that this literary can help others. Please feel free to comment below and ask any questions as I would love to help others as they plan their Swiss adventure!
