My name is Asiya Khaki and I love to use photography to capture the magic, love and joy I see in the the world around me.\u00a0My passion has gifted me the opportunity to work with hundreds of clients over the years capturing the\u00a0intangible, fleeting moments of life. \u00a0I specialize in\u00a0newborn, portrait, and wedding photography and service New Jersey and New York.<\/p>\n
I began my business, Photography by Asiya, after I graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University with a double degree in Architecture and Middle Eastern and Asian Studies in 2009. \u00a0Much to my parents dismay, instead of looking for jobs pertaining to my majors, I began working in a few hospitals across the tri-state photographing newborns and also deep dove into the world of wedding photography and family portraiture.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I now mostly photograph newborns and families. My love for\u00a0newborns is unparalleled. Being third born, I always wanted my mother to have another baby who I could help raise. \u00a0My mother never had another baby and this made my love for newborns and kids only grow stronger.<\/p>\n
As a photographer, I love making people feel comfortable in front of the camera, and taking\u00a0images that truly make them look their absolute best. \u00a0For me, photo shoots and photography are about taking time to pause and to enjoy a moment. The process of taking photographs is an experience in itself; a time to enjoy a special life event or milestone and enjoy stillness in the busyness that is life. I see magic and beauty everywhere I go and in every person I meet, and the photographs I take try to capture that special something that is always present.<\/p>\n
I feel so incredibly honored and blessed every time I photograph a special milestone in someone’s life, whether it be an engagement, a wedding, a maternity shoot, a newborn session, or milestone shoot as a child grows up. The photographs I take encapsulate moments that never come back. \u00a0They are life’s most precious moments and through the photographs I take, some of the magic is kept alive so many years later, those moments and that special something can somehow come back to life through the photographs.<\/p>\n
I love using natural light\u00a0as I find it is perfect in every way. \u00a0My work is clean, modern, simple, and \u00a0full of creativity. \u00a0I enjoy taking feedback from clients and understanding what their unique aesthetic is so I can create images that are tailored to their vision and style. \u00a0The photographs I take are genuine, artistic, and timeless.<\/p>\n
